Travis Cummings Defeats Deborah Terry in Republican Primary
ORANGE PARK – Republican voters in District 3 overwhelmingly supported Travis Cummings as the Republican candidate for Clay County Commission in the August 26 primary election. Cummings received more than 60% of the vote.
"I think that this campaign has been about positive, honest leadership, and we did this together," said Cummings. "I owe a debt of gratitude to all of the volunteers, family members, and friends who have been commited to getting the word out."
Now, Cummings will turn his attention to the November 4 primary where he will be challenged by an independant candidate.
"We're not done yet," said Cummings. "We've got a lot of work to do, and I'm excited to get back out on the streets, talking to residents of the District, and sharing my plan to oversome some of the challenges we face in Clay County."
Cummings, an independent financial services consultant, served on the Orange Park Town Council from 2002 to 2008, also serving as the youngest Mayor in Orange Park history in 2004. His extensive accounting background and commitment to fiscal responsibility were demonstrated during his Council tenure when the town had its largest tax decrease.
During his tenure on the Town Council, Cummings served as the Chair of the Clay County Charter Review Commission, served on the County Transportation Advisory Commission and continues to work with Florida Department of Transportation, and the Town of Orange Park in addressing our crowded roads.
