There are many challenges and opportunities facing our county and region. Jessica and Travis are dedicated to Clay County, which has provided each of them with a wonderful upbringing, a terrific public education, many lifelong friendships and a tremendous quality of life. They both graduated from Orange Park High School and are fortunate to have many family members that reside in Clay County, including their parents.
Travis’ previous and current experiences include various leadership positions in both elected and volunteer roles in which positive impacts have been made on the key issues facing our county. However, much work and progress lies ahead.
Traffic congestion clogs our roads increasingly each day. Our most precious natural resource, the St. Johns River, is listed as one of the most endangered rivers in America. Sixty percent of our very talented workforce leaves Clay County each weekday for higher paying jobs in surrounding counties. Government must continue to find efficiencies and act responsibly just as we do in our own households. And while Clay County continues to grow, these issues must be improved and controlled.
“I have always been enthusiastic about public service and those experiences have provided me with the knowledge and fortitude to deal with the issues facing Clay County. However, my upcoming marriage and the starting of my own family have made me that much more vested and committed to the future of our County”, Cummings said.
Travis Cummings is a proven leader, who has committed the past six years to public service as the Mayor of Orange Park and as an Orange Park Town Councilman. His current and previous experiences also include: Chairman of the Clay County Charter Review Commission, Chairman of the Dye Clay Family YMCA, Clay County Transportation Advisory Commission member, Clay County Tourism Development Council, NE Fla Regional Leadership Academy, Leadership Florida and many other civic, social and charitable involvements.
